A barren room, a copier. Leather, fur, metal. From 1981 to 1996, the lesbian-run West Berlin “Pelze Multimedia” was a well-loved and notorious venue for experimental art and music, sex parties, bars and avant-garde fashion shows on scaffolding.
A barren room, a copier. Leather, fur, metal. A place where you don't sit squarely at tables with flowers and salt shakers, but where you appropriate the space in all its dimensions. A brittle design language. From 1981 to 1996, the lesbian-run West Berlin “Pelze Multimedia” was a well-loved and notorious venue for experimental art and music, sex parties, bars and avant-garde fashion shows on scaffolding. Interviews with three of the operators at the time are interwoven with carefully staged private archive holdings. SUBJEKTRÄUME examines a subcultural memory, the question of a feminist legacy and an aesthetic practice that was absolutely contrary to large parts of the women's movement of the time.
