With FAVORITEN, filmmaker Ruth Beckermann creates a long-term observation of a school class and focuses on the children's perspective and the structural problems in the school system.  The screening will be followed by a film discussion moderated by Karin Petzold from GEW Berlin.

About

Over the course of three years, filmmaker Ruth Beckermann follows a class of children aged seven to ten and their teacher in the Favoriten, a district of Vienna, allowing us to experience the children's daily adventures, struggles, defeats and successes. Favoriten was once a working-class district, and today the majority of children at the elementary school there do not speak German as their first language. By getting to know the "favorites", we experience with them an eventful time that will have a decisive impact on their future.
