Born in 1990, US-American Kristen Stewart decided early on to take on complex roles in independent productions. Her first films often dealt with adolescent desire and the leap into adulthood. This could also have been the reason why Catherine Hardwicke cast her in “Twilight” in 2008. The films brought her fans worldwide, but also ridicule and misogyny. However, she vehemently opposed the image of the 'classic' Hollywood young star by continuing to shoot predominantly sophisticated arthouse films. From time to time, she also moves behind the camera, directs music videos or was part of the festival juries in Cannes and at the Berlinale. She is currently preparing her feature film directorial debut.
