An emotional and honest film about human connections, I could have accompanied the two protagonists forever.““It doesn’t feel like a film, I felt like I'm watching something real and alive.“

"Great and very relevant film. I got very angry and sad at the cinema.""Excellently made, excellently acted, an important topic told in a captivating way." "Maria Schrader proves why she's the best filmmaker we have."

Belfast

"A beautiful and meticulously staged production where you can feel in every scene how much the director is passionate about this story.""A very personally told, poignant story with a fascinating look into a piece of Irish history."
"Touching character development, intelligent storytelling rhythm, subtle and poignant imagery - smart and emotional cinema for adults. A masterpiece!""Great film art in the original version! Very impressive and simply wonderful, the way the film approaches the characters and their stories with a lot of time."
"It's a super summery beautiful film with wonderful analog vibes. It also exudes a certain lightheartedness. By the way, on the day I watched the film at the cinema, a person who once was very, very important to me said that he loved me. And that also somehow got linked :)""So beautifully emotional, funny, nostalgic, and romantic.""I thought Alana Haim was just wonderful."
"The perfect mix of coming of age, romance, and banal brutality.""The camera work is insane. Mood is sad and beautiful at the same time. The main performers are incredibly good.""Exceptionally intense emotional and visual rush."

"A coup de foudre, a whirlwind, a bullseye directly to the heart, head, and stomach - so beautiful and painful and honest, melancholy and refreshing, the first half immediately and completely took me in, whose lightness, though, takes a sudden end due to the somewhat too sentimental second plotline, but that's life." "I couldn't identify with any other film more. Shockingly in love!" "Because of the most beautiful flirting scene of the year."

Aftersun

“Cause love‘s such an old-fashioned word... but I love love love everything about Aftersun. It’s gentle, it’s soothing, it’s tragic, it’s the best ending of the year. An all-timer!“"Just such a subtle eerily beautiful portrayal of depression by the incredible Paul Mescal (the carpet scene!) embedded in a formal framework about how we remember. As soon as the credits rolled, I wanted to see it again.""Reminds me of my father and our vacations to the Baltic Sea. I was too young then to understand what was going on inside him. Today it's too late to help him. Still, he did his best to give his daughter an unforgettable vacation. Just like my father."“The way of the movie ends was eery for the audience. It is a very touchy movie, especially seeing a story from kids perspective.““Weil die Under Pressure Szene der so ziemlich wundervollste, herzzerreißendste Kinomoment des Jahres ist.“

Triangle of Sadness

"Everything that is currently broken - wonderfully exaggerated captured on film.""The high art of clever entertainment - impressive, fantastically acted, incredibly funny and with a universal message. The film does not overexplain, it leaves room for personal interpretation.""It was funny, well acted, and nicely photographed."“Sarcastic. Over the Top. Disruptive. I laughed, I awed, I wondered. Loved it!““Lässig feministisch, sehr lustig, toller fieser Humor. Themen. Toller Soundtrack.“

Everything Everywhere All at Once

"I laughed, cried and sympathized. At once whimsical, funny, over the top and very sensitive and soulful when it came to complex issues like queerness, mother-daughter relationships and the experience of growing up in a family with an immigrant history. In the future, I want to see more films that prove that the two are not mutually exclusive.""No other film emitted this much love for the medium of cinema this year.""A creative fireworks display, funny, entertaining, sad and moving to tears. A wonderfully simple and true statement (be kind), great family and mother daughter story at its core. Plus an immigrant story and the lead: a 50+ year old "normal" Asian woman as a superhero. Revolutionary! Plus Michelle Yeoh is a legend and finally deserves the Oscar for this.""This movie permanently changed the way I look at the world and my life, and it did it with hot dog fingers and talking rocks. Beautiful. Thank you so much."“While being a film of every genre, it‘s hilarious, emotional and has fun and entertaining action. Watching it for the first time was the best movie going experience this year with a full theatre at Odeon and everyone laughing. Also the production design, costumes and performances were top notch and the movie was just very surprising and I was never once bored all 5 times I watched it in a Yorck theatre.“"It was special and evoked so many emotions in me. It's silly, sad, and heartwarming at the same time. Even after watching it three times, I'm already looking forward to the next viewing!”"It went beyond pure entertainment, raised philosophical questions, utilized the full arsenal that the medium of film has to offer, had the best film music of the year, and I hardly laughed more during any other film."“Because it made me question my perception of time, love, my relationship with my parents and the meaning of life.““It was the most incredible and magical movie experience this year.“
