Under brightly lit neon lights and in the shadows of the side streets, we follow randomly intertwined stories of hit men and love-hungry people. Originally planned as the third episode of Chungking Express, Wong Kar-Wai decided to create his own sensual memorial to Hong Kong's sweltering late nights.
In Hong Kong at night, a young killer works with the precision of a machine. He receives his orders from a female agent who resides in the same run-down hotel where the mute Ho leads a mysterious double life. As the disaffected killer begins to doubt his job, he hangs out with runaway Punkie. While he ends up in that ominous hotel with the girl, a relationship seems to be brewing between Ho and the lonely agent.
