Germany in the 70s. Andreas Baader, former star columnist Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin founded the RAF and fought against what they saw as the new face of fascism: US policy in Vietnam, the Middle East and the Third World, supported by leading figures in German politics, justice and industry. The Red Army Faction has declared war on the Federal Republic of Germany. There are deaths and injuries, the situation escalates and the still young democracy is shaken to its foundations.
