The unsuccessful actress Madeleine Verdier is accused of murdering a famous producer. On the advice of her best friend, the unemployed lawyer Pauline, Madeleine is to plead guilty, but plead self-defence. What follows is a sensational trial in which the two young women impressively show up the men. Madeleine is acquitted and as a new star is showered with lucrative role offers.
