Martina lives with her mother and little brother in a high-rise housing estate in Berlin. But one day her life changes abruptly, as she is accepted at a coveted high school in the small Alpine town of Kirchberg. It quickly becomes clear who sets the tone here, and Martina finds herself caught up in an old rivalry between the boarders and the "externals" from the local village.
