Poland in the late 19th century. Young Jagna lives in a village characterized by gossip, the changing seasons, colourful traditions - and a deeply rooted patriarchy. Jagna is promised to the most powerful farmer in the village, but she actually loves his son, the rebellious Antek. When she becomes the plaything of the men, Jagna rebels and takes her fate into her own hands.
