Inspired by the eponymous meme , our film series Torment Nexus explores the complex and often contradictory relationship between imaginative cinema and real technology.

In the first season, we focus specifically on the topic of Artificial Intelligence - a technology currently at the center of a fierce competition between tech giants and startups. Will AI lead us into a brave new world, will it bring about the apocalypse, or is it overyhyped and not as big of a deal as we all think?

We look to what answers to these questions movies might give us. Every first Wednesday of the month, we showcase a classic film at the Odeon Cinema that has significantly shaped our understanding of artificial intelligence. The series kicks off with HER (2013).
