Paris 1928: The composer Maurice Ravel is assigned by the dancer Ida Rubinstein to compose the music for her next ballet: Something sensual and beguiling. Ravel seeks inspiration in his everyday life and delves into his innermost being, coming to terms with the failures of his early years, the rupture caused by the First World War and his impossible love for his muse Misia Sert. A seemingly random idea becomes the basis for his greatest success: the Bolero.
