What means the greatest happiness for others triggers ambivalent feelings in Jenny: She is expecting a child. She has clashed with the law and the youth welfare office and her relationship with Bolle is increasingly suffering from her drug addiction. When the midwife Marla is assigned to them, Jenny reacts dismissively. But contrary to expectations, trust develops between the two. Gradually, Jenny begins to take responsibility - for the new life inside her, but above all for herself.
