E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea
The Irish designer Eileen Gray built a retreat on the Côte d'Azur in 1929. Her first house is a discreet, avant-garde masterpiece. She called it E.1027, a cryptic combination of her initials and those of Jean Badovici, with whom she built it. When Le Corbusier discovered the house, he was fascinated. He leaves his controversial mark on the building and in Eileen's life.
